“Meeting of the cultures” at a Spectacular Show..!!
In a spectacular celebration for dance, that was embraced by the Athenian audience, turned out the 1st “Bollywood and Multicultural Dance Festival” in Greece, that was held from the 28th till the 30th of June 2013 at the Historical “Dora Stratou” Theatre
Distinguished dancers, that were invited from distant countries to show their art, represented in this unique meeting of cultures all modern trends of Dance, which were tied to the colorful amalgam of expressive skill in the style introduced by Bollywood: marrying classical, ethnic, even traditional dances with modern choreographies following the standards of Broad-Way musicals. This explosion of positive dance energy, gave birth to a rich palette of emotions that worked as an undercover bond between the audience and the dancers, a common code that converts this festival in a new INSTITUTION in the cultural life of our country.
In its two unique shows, Saturday and Sunday, the dances traveled the viewers from the ends of the East and the depths of India to the distant Hawaii, Spain, Egypt, Crete and Pontos. Through the rhythms of Bollywood, the Indian and oriental dances and all modern dance trends, it was proved that dancing has no borders, color, sex, age, boundaries and tights.
The shows were introduced by Mr. Nikolaos Vafiadis eminent journalist and reporter, and Dr. Dimitrios Vasilliades Ph.D. at the University of Athens. Moreover the festival was attended by the Honourable Mr. Alkis Raftis, President of the International Dance Council, under the aegis of which the Festival was held and the consul of India Somnath Halder.
